Bulk Storage Facility

bulk storage facility 3D model

Dimensioned storage facility

This project required to creation of a simple 3D model to show dimensions and road layout of proposed bulk storage facility in north Queensland. The to scale and dimensioned images were  used as concept drawings in the submission of interest documents sent out to contractors.  Sheds of this size need to be structurally engineered for the large clear spans required and the traffic layout need to be carefully planned to take into account the size and manoeuvrability of the tipper trucks using the facility.  The 3D model helped all concerned visualise the actual site location of the sheds, the traffic flow in and out of the facility and showed the site boundaries directly superimposed on a Google Earth image.

Showing the proposed development on a satellite image of the actual location is enormously helpful.

Workers Village

This development is the creation of a workers camp, temporary accommodation for workers involved in large, local infrastructure projects in Queensland, Australia.

The project required the creation of a conceptual 3D model early on in the project as part of the submission to council for development approval for material change of use.  At this stage the details of the buildings have not been defined although the key elements such as accommodation for 500 workers,  kitchen and dining facilities, ablution block, storage areas etc are known.   Simple 3D blocks were created and placed on the land in line with the proposed engineering earthworks.  The village is to be built using sustainable design concepts and has some innovative features, such as solar powered air conditioning, waste gas re-used and own electricity generation.  Workers will be tranported in electric powered buses to their work sites.  There will be on-site water storage and class one waste water treatment system and re-use together with rainwater harvesting.  The site will be extensively planted with native trees and will also feature large stormwater ponds.  Simple 3D images were created to add clarity to the proposal documents submitted to council.

3D images are becoming more and more of a standard requirement for council submissions.

Marketing a development

Change of Use for land subdivision

Flyer created for small subdivision development

VisionM undertook a project for a small development that had to follow strict design rules due to the covenants in place for the larger sub-division.   The developer had had the plans drawn up by a local architectural designer but needed to market the houses and preferably sell them before they were built.

Using a rough site plan and Google Earth the terrain was drawn up.  The excavation and building platforms were modelled and the house models positioned correctly.  With the addition of some landscaping the models were then photo-realistically rendered to provide images for marketing materials such as brochures and posters.  Section images and photorealistic images of the interior were also provided along with plan views for prospective puchasers.  These enabled brochures to be printed to be handed out to prospective purchasers.

The ability to create realistic marketing materials to help sell a speculative property assists immensely in finding an early buyer.

Fund raising for a community development

Omaha Beach Surf Club required extensive renovation to provide suitable facilities for the very important service of beach surf and rescue.  VisionM drew up a 3D model of the proposed new clubhouse using plans provided by an architect.  We also developed several photo-realistic views, both interior and exterior and developed a ‘virtual object’.  That is a photo-realistic rendition of the building that can be manipulated by a mouse to ‘orbit’ the property.  Finally we developed a poster that pulled all these elements together and can be used for display purposes to inform both club members and the general public.  We also created a powerpoint presentation and attended a sponsors dinner and presented the model to those present as part of an awareness and fund raising campaign by the club.

VisionM can provide a variety of services to meet the needs of your particular project.
